13TH examines what followed the 13^th Amendment abolishing slavery. Director Ava DuVernay, is known for directing the historical drama Selma. Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time made her the highest grossing black woman director in American box office history. For Netflix she directed When They See Us about the infamous case of The Central Park Five. Her micro-budget film Middle of Nowhere won the 2012 Sundance Film Festival’s Best Director Prize. DuVernay amplifies the work of people of color and women through her non-profit film collective ARRAY, named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies. More>
